Why Ukraine is important to Russia - everything is clear: proximity of territories, trade component, historical community, etc.
But why is it important to America? They still perceive Russia as a potential enemy, and all these new air defense systems in Eastern European countries are aimed at... guess who? (answer: that's right, against the poor Iran and North Korea!!)
The US has already imposed its "democracy" in many places: in Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Egypt, everywhere - and they will still be dealing with the consequences for another 100 years.)) In the US itself, there has been a crisis for a long time (external debt of 16 trillion, shootings in schools continue, and there is also a crisis of values and culture - although this is happening everywhere in the world now...). In the EU, there is also a crisis (poor Greece, Spain, Cyprus, migrants, unemployment of 10-30%, etc.) - perhaps with Ukraine joining, all their problems will be solved.
But, of course, you can also dream that you will live like in Germany. Russians (and not only them) thought so 20 years ago...
