That's not true, I'm not that categorical. Conflux, for example, is original (in a certain sense), but it rarely brings joy.
Even if it speaks to the limited nature of my mind, for me, one of the most important factors is the authorship of the innovations. I don't like it when one thing looks native, and another looks obviously foreign. If there's no such obviousness, then everything is fine.
