HoMM3 HD is a mod (add-on) for the game Heroes of Might and Magic 3.
I'm sure if HotA had been released 10 years ago by NWC-3DO, you wouldn't be talking about any lack of organic feel here.
I wouldn't have, because it would have been made by the original developers. And the town would have looked different.
The quality of work by the 3D/2D artists of the HotA team is at least no less than that of the original development teams.
It's drawn well, but purely conceptually, there can be no comparison with the original creatures.
And if the Wharf had come out before the Conflux, the own wretchedness of the Conflux idea would have been even more noticeable.
The doubtfulness of the Conflux was obvious back in 1999, even without the Wharf.
It's a pity that conservatism and years of habit won't allow many to enjoy HotA.
That's not the point. For me personally, the problem is organic feel. Each of the expansions to the third game introduced elements that partially clashed with the overall picture, which is why I prefer playing "The Restoration of Erathia" the most. It's the same with many games, for example, with the fourth one.
And redrawn original creatures (I don't like that either, for instance) are trifles that you get used to and which pale before all the positive qualities.
Alas, not in my case.
'Unfamiliar' does not equal 'bad'.
No one is arguing. And this mod is proof of that. At first it was unfamiliar, now it will be hard to do without it.
And in general, if adding a new town is by default ruining the game, why did you download HotA?
No, adding a new town is not ruining the game by default. It was the first modification for the third game that I downloaded just to try something fresh. It didn't click.
HD, by the way, doesn't please everyone either, specifically because of the new elements and changes to the original; moreover, the fact that such things are optional in no way rehabilitates HD in the eyes of ardent conservatives. Although actually I believe it's just that HD does not correspond to THEIR ideas of Ideal Heroes.
I am not an ardent conservative, so I easily accept absolutely adequate innovations, which is exactly what the mod you created is.
Precisely from an aesthetic point of view, no other gameplay mod for the third game even comes close to HotA.
From an aesthetic point of view, the original third game is unreachably (almost unreachably: the sixth part had a successfully missed chance) stunning and superb, but extremely poor functionally. That's where the trouble lies.
