If SoD is slowly dying, then the problem lies elsewhere — after all, chess has existed without upgrades for more than a few hundred years and still hasn't lost its popularity. And regarding conservatism — any program (including a game) improves up to a certain point of development, but with further development, it can actually worsen. It is simply that behind the visible advantages of an upgrade, one may fail to notice even greater, hidden disadvantages. To make the right decision, both must be taken into account.

I agree with every word. This mod, as I understand it, operates on the interface without touching the game's core mechanics, which, in my opinion, is very correct.
I remember that I used to categorically refuse to use any modifications because they always tried to interfere directly with the essence of the game, and I like it exactly as it was released by the developers. This mod is amazing because it does not cross the line beyond which regression begins. On the contrary, it brings the project to perfection, for which its creator deserves a huge thank you.
