In my opinion, it's quite enough to just display the image. For example, when I play, I only go to shrines if I need to learn a spell, or if it's easier to traverse the landscape, or to check what spell they give. Therefore, displaying the image is FAST and INFORMATIVE for me, which is what I need. And whether there's a book or not, I already know, because I go there consciously. And thinking about which spell I need, which shrine has what, who already has it, or whether there's a book – all of this is done on the fly.
+ Just an image. All the other informative clutter is unnecessary.
A simple example: a shrine is located on the way from the castle; in one turn, you can see up to 10 images. Do you really need that?
