There were a couple of questions in ICQ regarding the Balance map.
Tournament play isn't really the place for tutorials, but okay.

There are several possible outcomes when this map is generated.
The first standard generation has a road to the home town and a road to the Guardian Order, but no roads to the secondary towns. To reach the road network, you need to make one move across unpaved terrain.
The second standard generation has a bonus road to a secondary town. In this case, you still need to make one move across unpaved terrain to reach the roads in the central zone.
Another case is when there is no road to the home town. Here, too, one move across unpaved terrain is needed to reach the road network, but it's easier to do because you only need to navigate through your own territory and don't have to fight the guards between zones.
All three of these cases occur frequently and don't differ much from each other in terms of gameplay. When restarting, you should primarily consider your specific starting position, which is made up of many factors, and the number of roads and their direction is not the most important.

Generations with two roads to secondary towns are very rare and, as a rule, they are buggy (sometimes the road leads to a dead end - there is no passage between the central cities, or the road leads directly to the opponent, and there is no road to the Guardian Order for either player).

Ideally, restarting at will when there is only one road to the Guardian Order for the Balance map is not as important as, for example, for the Chaos map; it's more of a fear of the Guardian Order.

For me, it was a surprising revelation that on the Balance map, you can generate without roads to adjacent zones (except for the Guardian Order), and this is not a reason to restart.

Apparently, a lack of experience with this map has had an impact. Creating a good starting position on the Balance map in a game with a dungeon requires skill.
In the end, there are quite a few subjective restarts to try to get a better generation if a normal one doesn't suit you.
