Problems with the "Shades of Darkness" expansion.

I have Windows 7. I downloaded Shades of Darkness, and I'm having trouble. The game starts normally, but after the first battle, the screen darkens. I can barely see the silhouettes and the glowing flags, but the rest is invisible. I've set compatibility mode for Windows 7. This is the only game I really love, can you help me?
