Well, even 100 (or so) Archdevils aren't that easy to defeat.
Especially since there are no taverns on the map.

Although, there are heroes in the dungeons, level 40 - were they using magic?

200 Archdevils + a treasure chest. In the dungeon, I freed a level 42 hero + an army of 50 gold dragons and all the others in ascending order. A level 42 hero with a spellbook can easily handle an army without a hero. And of course, I skipped over the black dragons; on the map, after the 10 demons, there are all the spellbooks + 3 good artifacts (helmet +6 all, hell sword, cursed shield). We immediately head for the artifacts, and then to the final goal; throughout the entire game, there are only two battles, with 10 demons and the final battle. There's no need to even try hard.
