There was a similar case in Psyche_7's game, where he lost an auto-battle using a faster unit because the unit charged forward and was killed by a slower, stronger unit. In this case, when attacking manually, the player always has the option to choose whether to attack, retreat, or defend. With auto-battle enabled, this option is not available, which is also a kind of bug. In my opinion, this problem needs to be addressed in the HD mod as well...
The situation is slightly different there. As I noticed, quick battles somehow don't take the player's tactics into account and don't try to use them to retreat. Perhaps the AI doesn't even know that it's possible to retreat during the tactical setup phase; we should ask Baratortcha or Sava, I think they should be aware of this.
