I think that in future tournaments, there should be no division of players into groups at all; whichever round the captain chooses, that's where they'll be. And if the captain can't be present during the selection, then we need to think about that. Maybe they could pre-arrange all the players according to their priority, and then the host would choose the highest priority player from their list. Also, captains should be determined more than 24 hours before the other players are assigned, so they have time to adjust or create a priority list.
