Perhaps "special necromantic methods" refer to a particularly twisted technique for raising undead "from thin air," as described on your HeroesPortal and prohibited there as a brutally unfair cheat, because it allows a player who masters it to almost infinitely increase their army and level up their necromancer hero? I just read about it in detail in the Tavern there today (but I won't provide a link so as not to tempt players who are unaware).
