I played it, although I didn't finish it, but I can confidently say that my impression of the game is quite positive. Initially, it seemed that by removing the ability to run away while shooting, they would ruin the archers, but no – archers are still relevant and powerful. The game is good; yes, it can't please me as much as the old and good 6th and 8th installments, but it's much better than the 9th. There are some shortcomings, like the lack of balance in magic, but we'll attribute them to the pre-release beta and hope for improvements in the future.
However, some other complaints can't be excused:
1. If there are several enemies, it is impossible to choose who to shoot at – our heroes shoot as they please, as a result, everyone is wounded, and no one is killed;
2. There is no way to attack and shoot diagonally (I remind you that the battlefield is grid-based), which is annoying – the enemy is nearby, but there is no way to attack, let alone shoot or cast spells;
3. There are too many borrowings from Heroes 6: why make the returned Maximus, the orc-knight, the local commander of the guard? He is a hero; he should command hundreds and thousands of armies, not a dozen guards and a group of heroes. And other heroes also appear in a non-heroic form. What's next? There's simply nowhere else to go. Why? The unity of the world in the old parts was perfectly shown by a couple of characters of royal blood; there is no need to put them in every third house.
