Why would a necromancer need a blanket?
Angwa pushed the chair back and grabbed a beer coaster. The figures, half-hidden in the tavern's twilight, muttered something threateningly.
“We’re leaving,” she said. “Igor, give us half a minute, and you can take the blanket off him. Let’s go!”
They quickly ran out of the tavern. The fog almost swallowed the setting sun, turning it into a pale spot in the sky, but compared to the semi-darkness of the tavern, it was a bright sunny day outside.
“What happened to him?” Shelma asked, trying not to fall behind Angwa.
“Existential insecurity,” Angwa replied. “Scarecrows are constantly doubting their own existence. Yes, it was cruel, but there are no other ways to deal with scarecrows. Or we don’t know them yet. And the most reliable method is a blue down blanket.” Noticing Shelma’s puzzled look, Angwa explained: “Listen, you should remember this from childhood… How do you scare away a scarecrow? You just have to cover yourself with a blanket over your head, right? And if you cover a scarecrow with a blanket…”
“Yes, yes, I understand. Hmm, I don’t envy him…”
