The elves should be placed in the farthest corner of the battlefield and barricaded with centaurs. While, for example, zombies are attacking the centaurs (cannon fodder), they will lose initiative. By this time, they will all be exhausted due to the elves.

On a random map (meaning a modified map), it is easy to acquire a sniper bow, which is a significant advantage for the elves. When there are many of them, they become a truly formidable force.
