The harsh world of esports is thriving in South Korea, where the main gaming disciplines form their own pantheon of gods – with millions of fanatical viewers and a multitude of priest-like esports players. At the current World Championship Series tournament for StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm, a dramatic event occurred: one of the best players in the world in this strategy was completely defeated by a 16-year-old Korean schoolboy.
World champion Lee Shin Hyung, who plays under the nickname INnoVation, lost 4-0 to the up-and-coming esports player Cho Sung Chu, better known as Maru. The latter is currently only 16 years old. He is only four years younger than INnoVation, but nevertheless, he became a schoolboy who defeated one of the best SC2 players.
