I did the same thing; even if I install any version of ICQ, 6 or 8, it doesn't connect.

Create a new one; there are probably problems with it.

Isn't it obvious that a topic was created specifically for this, what's wrong? Others might have the same problem, and screenshots might help them. Also, it's not always easier on Skype; for example, I can't sit and chat right now. Your comment is out of place.
