Since when does creating tasks require expanding the editor?

No, the issue lies elsewhere. If you click on "View" in the expanded editor, you'll only see "map properties," whereas in the regular mode, the tree is displayed directly below it. And the fact that clicking on it opens the tree in a separate window is something I simply forgot to add.
