Our game with Grizvald is on a save in the middle of the third week. We'll try to finish it today.
15.07.2013 Dirty_Player (blue, Inferno, Octavia, Rissa) def Grizvald (red, Inferno, Olema, Shakti) skirmish 135
We used up all restarts, Inferno screwed both of us. The layout is not bad, there's gold, but besides gold there's nothing much to see. My opponent reveals Miner and 2 castles, but I have more heroes. On the first week I took Necropolis and fought some dumb battle with 94 gr. zombies for the gold mine, where I lost almost all of them because I put a singleton under attack twice. The exits are convenient, one through a teleport, the second into a dungeon. On the first week I built Efreeti in the Citadel and with 121 started breaking through guards. Captured the dungeon and castle, lost the Efreet to Gargoyles, but there's an external dwelling of Angels, a bunch of Pandora's Boxes, and a quest artifact. Bought Inteus and fed him a 5000 gold chest near the dungeon, ended up with a promising mage who helped flag the Angel external dwelling. Traded the quest helmet for 15k gold and bought an Angel from the external dwelling and from the portal. The Pandora's Box gave 40 Marksmen. Lots of gold, even thought about building Devils in the castle, but there was no wood, so I decided to buy up everything on week 3 day 1 and do real business. On week 3 day 1 with 4 Angels, 3 Sultans, 40 Gogs, 40 Marksmen and mass Slow I decide to do "real business" and claim a Pandora's Box guarded by 50+ Thunderbirds. It turned out there were predictably close to 90 of them, the battle should have been dragged out, but the birds got morale and charged into the archers, which put the optimistic outcome of the battle in doubt. In the end, I didn't finish off about a dozen birds and sent Rizza to the tavern. Shakti saw this and hastened to visit. I was already about to write gg, but sheer curiosity to see what's in the Pandora's Box stopped me. Gathering the remnants of the army in the form of Troglodytes, Imps, 3 common Efreeti, and gr. Pit Fiends, I sent Inteus at the birds. Killed almost everything, but the Pandora's Box has 5 Angels. On his turn Shakti attacks with 40 Demons, 7 gr. Pit Fiends, 5 Sultans, 3 Wyverns and chaff. I have Lightning Bolt for 135 damage and 40 mana, Shakti has little mana. Thanks to the blue color I already had gold for a buyback, so the goal of the battle was to drain all of Shakti's mana and hit something with the Bolt. After the exchange I managed to retreat with 5 Angels and 1 Efreet, while Shakti was left with Demons and 1 Pit Fiend. On my turn I buy back Inteus, visit a well, and attack with singletons. Shakti surrenders right from tactics. I kill all his weaklings. We saved. For some reason I went on the attack with Rizza, while with Inteus I prepared to take a Pandora's Box guarded by 20+ Nagas in a chain. I stupidly left Rizza exposed near the castle, for which I could have been punished. Jehlar attacks with undead and 7 sp. I wait, and he casts Death Wave and for some reason retreats, scoring a hit-and-run. Although I only had Angels and 1 Efreet left against 7 stacks, so I could have shot a few more arrows, but I planned to buy back since I had the gold. Post-game revealed that Inteus took the Pandora's Box after the Nagas and got all the fire spells... Also, the 2 Angel per week growth hinted that it was profitable for me to hoard, and having all the fire spells would have sealed the deal without options. Thanks for the epic game, Denis :)
