I was so short on money that I could only hire the 7th hero on 141; as for the army, I didn't buy anyone except birds and air units until the 4th week.
In the end, because of the timer, I couldn't pull off one trick, which is what I paid for. Even though I knew it would happen, since I saw Clavius hiding underground to seize the castle on the next turn, I just didn't feel like running anymore.
