I confirm.
The first time, I think I played as Inferno, and luckily, I had the demon table at hand, which allowed me to take the Hydra ambush and use it to gain a significant advantage. After that, everything was easy, although I expected to have fewer units left in the final (we almost ended up with the same number, with about 12 demons and an angel remaining). The timer ran out on the first map because of the battle with the dwarves – be careful! And I played the entire game without a book.
