Outcast's Path

Is it possible to complete the map without completing this quest? If not, that's a shame... The map is great, there aren't many like it. Maybe I downloaded something incorrectly at first, I don't know, but I explored everything around (every centimeter) and couldn't find the squad.
Maybe I should download it again and save the game?
