I would like to know who thinks so. :) It seems to me that this is a remnant from the first game and continues to this day. In general, playing with a mirror match can sometimes be more interesting than a standard matchup.

Everyone has their own interests, and the concept is subjective. Here, it is better to approach each specific situation with specific players in mind, with the possibility of taking a break during a mirror match on turn 112, using the break on turn 111 (or not using it at all).
