| You Are the First Doctor |
During this stage of his life, the Doctor was an irritable, brilliant, but quick-tempered scientist. He became very sharp, irritable, and fastidious when someone doubted the capabilities of the TARDIS. He struck a Viking without a shadow of a doubt when his own life was in danger. Nevertheless, later the Doctor demonstrated great wisdom and a kind heart. Perhaps due to his age, he was weaker than his future incarnations. He was also somewhat absent-minded, but perhaps he acted this way to fool his enemies. When necessary, he engaged in hand-to-hand combat with an effectiveness questionable for his age. He claimed that a famous wrestler had taught him a couple of moves. The Doctor always added "Hmmmm...?" to his speech, along with irritated sighs and grunts, and sometimes – distorted words and phrases. He addressed young girls as "child" and younger men as "my boy." He found it difficult (or pretended it was difficult) to remember Ian's last name. While piloting the TARDIS, the Doctor consulted a small manual. |
