David Whipple bought it at McDonald's 14 years ago. The man wanted to see if it would spoil, and he observed the test subject for about a month. Then he put the hamburger in his coat pocket, right in the paper wrapper and the bag with the receipt, and forgot about it.
Two years later, the receipt and the bag became unusable, but the hamburger was still fine. David Whipple decided to wait a little longer and see if the bun and patty would change their appearance. 14 years later, the hamburger hadn't changed at all. The American showed the "long-liver" on a local talk show "The Doctors".
