You can do it as many times as you want. Each time, the amount of Gold will decrease by the amount of the stack, but the effectiveness of the trick will decrease. You CAN use this bug!!

I remember organizing a tournament on reps.ru, on Anarchy. One of the players managed to break his Gold (devils with a stack) either on the 4th or 5th week. Then, I bet that I could break it on the 1st week - I spent 7 days collecting money and skeletons, and on the 117th day, I bought a bunch of heroes and defeated everyone with the Gold (1 day's worth of movement from the castle), and then finished off the rest with the army.
