I went to look for an abandoned mine in the north, searched the entire island, killed bandits, and had to kill the orcs who enslaved the peasants (there was no other way, I don't know if it was a double quest or not).
My reputation with the humans is rising significantly. I didn't find the abandoned mine, probably because I didn't read carefully enough.
