The chosen knockout system was simply not understood by the participants, and the organizers didn't really try to explain the principle of this system and how it would affect the tournament. There is a contradiction in the players' understanding between a qualifying tournament where seven winners are selected and a tournament with places from 1st to 7th. For example, Javdet might not want 7th place or might not be used to such a situation. Although 7th place is also a winning position, is it worth fighting and spending time to ultimately end up in 8th place? That's why some players withdrew – it's better to spend their energy and focus on a match with GoD, for example, where the prospects are clearer. This is just from the perspective of an abstract player. As for the current Swiss system, it's essentially a cup system, but in several tournament brackets – winners, first losers, and, if necessary, second losers. As a selection method, it eliminates half of the players due to the same motivation. And if the organizers were guided by these principles, then the withdrawal of players is natural and logical. If the goal was to conduct a full tournament with each round, then a random draw should have been used (even with the option of players choosing their opponents). In this case, each player retains their chances for a long time. And a point in each round can completely change the situation. At the same time, the seven most successful and strong players will clearly emerge. The more rounds, the more objective this group of seven will be, but it will exist.
