Instead of playing games, people will engage in something useful. Not such a bad prospect.

Gaming is a natural state for humans. People can only be efficient at something if it's interesting, if they want to achieve something, or if they want to compete. Any knowledge, even the most complex, is easier to acquire through play. The same applies to choosing a profession – you only choose what interests you, even though another person in your place would simply suffer.
