I'll state my opinion: the time limit needs to be reduced. A skilled player should be able to perform well within a reasonable time frame, not waste time for 10 minutes.
Let's take strategic games like StarCraft, FarCraft, and others that are played online. They all have a game speed setting, and it's always set to the maximum! If it were set lower, the quality would be better, and the games would last 10-15 minutes instead of a potentially higher quality but longer 20-25 minutes. But no, players believe that you need to be able to play well at maximum speed! And in Heroes of Might and Magic, it's the exact opposite. Why are we any different? This filters out a huge portion of players from the game. Including me, 4 minutes was acceptable, but 8 minutes is too much. And this has turned many people away from the game.
