Iona, an ordinary girl, always dreamed of justice. She couldn't understand why injustice and suffering reigned all around. One day, while going to fetch water, she came across a strange old man dressed in a yellow robe. He skillfully twirled two stone balls in his palm. "Black symbolizes evil, and white symbolizes good," said the stranger. Iona talked to him about how good it would be to balance all the troubles and joys, to equalize fertile lands, and to bring rain to the desert. The old man suddenly asked if the girl would like to try to establish balance herself, and Iona agreed.
Much time has passed since then, but Iona remembers that conversation with the old man, who turned out to be a powerful genie, and she remembers her desire to bring balance. Now she herself is a genie, and her ability to balance strength and wisdom is a lesson for all time.
