A spell is any active ability from the spellbook that affects someone. Counterspell (SPELL_ABILITY_COUNTERSPELL - the developers' original name) is one of them, as are summons, etc. It is also a perk. The problem with Vincent's biography is that the player already needs to know that Godric is the Duke of the Unicorns (I didn't know or forgot, which is why this happened) - this is the downside ;)

You understood what I meant ;) In Utopia, technically (or more precisely, according to the original game's mechanics), you can only learn spells (four schools, levels 4-5, if I'm not mistaken). Counterspell cannot be learned there because it is granted through a perk. But that doesn't mean it's impossible to master it in Utopia in principle.
