I used to think that everything depended only on the ratio of the armies. However, after conducting a test where there were 100 peasants as neutrals, and we had a very strong army. According to the formula, they should line up in exactly one stack, but in practice, it turned out that sometimes there was one stack, and sometimes two (I don't remember if there were three). I didn't figure out exactly what it depends on, but I came to the conclusion that it's not that important.
