... If a player knows that after a loss, they will have to wait, say, 20 games, their interest will quickly fade. That's the first point. And the second – such a system would simply line up the players, everyone would play in turn and know who they would play next, there would be no surprises, and that's not what we want. :) So, we rely on luck and wait!
