Why do you play as the Academy?

I only play as Mages on small and large maps because, on small maps, the Meteor Shower spell wipes out all creatures if the hero is properly leveled up. On large maps, it's because of the mini-artifacts that have time to prove their worth and win 95% of the time on very large maps.
