The tragedy of this family is, of course, far from the first, and, unfortunately, not the last: only this week, two similar cases occurred – in the Moscow region and in Siberia. But the tragedy of the Kabanovs will always stand out, even among a dozen very similar incidents. After all, it was a prosperous, strong, and very modern family, educated people, three children, and many friends. True, most of these friends turned out to be virtual.
Few of those who "friended," that is, entered the status of "friends" of the charming father of the family, knew that the father did not work, that his restaurant projects had collapsed, that there was no money for anything else, but there were debts, that his wife Irina's temporary jobs were the only means of livelihood, and that she had borrowed from colleagues again so that the children could continue to have a childhood – there were gifts under the Christmas tree. But the social media community was delighted, looking at the screen: people saw simple happiness.
There is an ordinary life with ordinary news, and there is a blogosphere or social network where other topics are discussed, where certain other problems are highlighted, where manipulation of public consciousness is simply flourishing, because the presentation of the material is focused on certain things while hiding others. This is a common situation.
