Most likely, when you visit the forum, you don't indicate that you want to be remembered. Or cookie acceptance is disabled.

Thank you for the advice, I'll try the "remember me" option! I didn't know that the forum engine has such a short memory! :) On another forum, I haven't been there for several months; I log in, and it turns out it still thinks I'm there! :)
