I don't think he gets any stat boosts, but his main stats are 1000 for attack, defense, and everything else. He has an army of about 20,000 phoenixes, 1,000 dragons, and other units. I don't remember the exact numbers, but you can check it out. You can always load a saved game to see. You just need to run away from him; he's only in one location in the Dungeon. He'll only appear after you take the free artifacts.
