What has it been replaced with? The fact that troops have their own turn and you can't build chains? Is this the main difference?

In the 4th game, there are monsters and heroes, spells, castles, and artifacts. It's a normal, but underdeveloped continuation of the series.

And the 5th game is a step back to the 3rd game + features from the 4th game.

I don't know how blind you have to be not to see that the 4th game is completely and utterly different.

But be careful with that.

Offtopic: Can't you increase your morale?

No. And others can't either, until you reach 25 posts and your morale becomes positive.
