Technical issues with Heroes III.

Please help, maybe someone knows how to solve this, if it's possible. The problem is as follows: I have an Acer Aspire One netbook with Windows 7, and in the game, there are some strange graphics issues. Specifically, there's a trail behind the cursor, and small areas of the image under the cursor sometimes follow it, creating a mess on the screen. I've tried installing Heroes 3 from different sources, different versions, and running it with different compatibility modes, but the problem persists. I haven't had a chance to update the video card drivers yet, but I doubt that will help. If anyone has encountered this, please let me know if it can be fixed. Maybe there are some graphics settings that can be disabled in the files?
