I looked at your questions, clicked on the link, and saw all the answers there. Apparently, you either couldn't find the information you needed or didn't understand it. This post contains a lot of information about templates, including a basic explanation. Someone put in the effort, gathered information, and wrote descriptions – so take some time to study it, and many questions will answer themselves. And then, specific questions can be answered with specific answers.

Now, about the topic. There are templates that have only one size option. And there are templates that have sizes ranging from S to LX+. But if on an S-sized map, two cities will actually be standing opposite each other, how do you imagine that on an LX+ map, if the template's layout is the same? This isn't a map made by hand, but a randomly generated map with only the basic parameters defined by the template.
