Let me explain why. Not just because he's the strongest player and performs miracles (although he plays very well), but there's more to consider. Alexander has done much more for the game and its fans than Maretti and other champions. We need to consider the huge number of streams he's done, and not just playing silently, but commenting on everything. I was also impressed by his attitude towards newcomers; he genuinely helps beginners get acquainted with the game and offers advice. I especially remember when he won against a player with a weak skill level, and when that player asked Twaryna to suggest how he could have played better, Sasha loaded the save from the first turn and "live" replayed the game for him. I'm sure few of you would do that. Huge respect to Alexander, you're great!

I remember it was about six months ago (actually, almost a year has passed)...
Preamble: How I got into Heroes of Might and Magic. My friend, Driver, was watching streams. I decided to watch them too (to keep up with my skills). While searching and learning, I really wanted to watch the game between Gomungulus and Maretti (as part of the tragic HeroesWorldCup 2012 tournament). So, I wrote to Vitaly, even though I didn't know him at all. I said something like, "I really want to watch, and if it's not too much trouble, could you let me know when the game will be and provide a link to the stream?" I wrote to him several weeks in advance. Vitaly immediately said that he would let me know in advance (a few hours before the game). They played while I had classes, so I watched the game in fragments... But Vitaly warned me and gave me a link (I was also re-streaming it, I remember).
About two weeks after my first or second game, against someone I won't name, but it was a guy from Heroes of Might and Magic. I won, reached level 131, and attacked his outpost on level 141 (he was planning to break the outpost on level 141...).
THE POINT! I told Vitaly that the outpost had a bad layout (jebuscross) - half of the spawn was blocked by monks, and the angels were positioned awkwardly. I told him, "Vitaly, the layout was bad, the guy came out on level 141; you could have done it earlier." Vitaly sat down and quickly (maybe an hour or more) replayed that game, reached level 125. Then he gave me a link, showed how to kill the outpost, showed what he did and where he moved - explained everything. I barely knew him then, but he spent time on me! A top Heroes of Might and Magic player spent time on a person who had only played 1-2 games. And not just for an hour...
