Happy New Year 2013!

The year 2013 will arrive on Earth at 2:00 PM Moscow time, and the first to celebrate it will be the inhabitants of Kiribati in the Pacific Ocean. Then the holiday will come to New Zealand.

In Russia, the New Year will be celebrated first by the residents of Anadyr, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and Magadan. Midnight will arrive in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky when it is 4:00 PM in Moscow. Then the holiday will come to Vladivostok, Khabarovsk, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, and Birobidzhan. Together with them, the residents of Sydney, Melbourne, and Canberra in Australia will celebrate the New Year.

An hour later, champagne will be opened in Yakutsk, Chita, and Blagoveshchensk. At this time, it will be 6:00 PM in Moscow. At 7:00 PM Moscow time, the New Year will arrive in Irkutsk and Ulan-Ude. Tokyo will join them.

Next, it will be celebrated in Krasnoyarsk, Abakan, and Kyzyl. And the New Year will continue its journey across the country, and at 9:00 PM Moscow time, it will come to Novosibirsk, Omsk, Tomsk, Kemerovo, Barnaul, and Gorno-Altaysk. When there are only two hours left until the holiday in the capital, it will be celebrated in Yekaterinburg, Perm, Chelyabinsk, Tyumen, Ufa, Orenburg, Kurgan, Salekhard, and Khanty-Mansiysk.

Then the New Year will come to the European part of Russia and will arrive in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Samara, Saratov, Astrakhan, Volgograd, Arkhangelsk, Rostov-on-Don, Grozny, Vladikavkaz, and many other cities. An hour later, the holiday will be celebrated in Kaliningrad, and together with them, the residents of Minsk in Belarus will sit down at the table. At 2:00 AM Moscow time, the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, will say goodbye to the old year.

When it is 4:00 AM in Moscow, the residents of London will celebrate the New Year, and at 9:00 AM Moscow time, fireworks will be launched in Times Square in New York. When it is noon in the capital of our country, the holiday will come to Los Angeles and San Francisco. The last to see out the old year will be the island state of Niue in the Pacific Ocean and Midway Atoll (USA).

Not all countries in the world celebrate the New Year on January 1st. This day is not a holiday in Muslim countries such as Saudi Arabia and Iran. In China and some other Asian countries, the New Year is celebrated according to the lunar calendar. And in various regions of India, it is celebrated at different times of the year. January 1st is also a working day in Israel – Jews celebrate the New Year in the fall, and the holiday is called Rosh Hashanah.
