So, elephants exhibit aggression in the following cases:
1) Mating season. This occurs on average 2-3 times a year. The only desire of males during this period is to fertilize a female. Aggression is primarily manifested between males – this is how the strongest is chosen, but it does not lead to death. In general, anyone who gets in the way may be subjected to aggression.
2) Size. Don't forget about the size of elephants! An elephant can cause injuries completely by accident, and it may not even realize it.
3) Memory. It has been repeatedly proven in practice that elephants have a good memory. Elephants are also vengeful. There have been cases where elephants took revenge for their parents (older elephants), trampling fields with crops. It is very easy to lose the trust of elephants, and it is more difficult to regain it.
4) The planet is becoming overcrowded. In recent years, elephants have often attacked newly built villages. This happens because the human population is growing, which requires the development of new territories, and elephants and other animals are the ones who suffer in such situations. The average lifespan of elephants in the wild is 60 years.
5) Intelligence. People have taught elephants many things (or rather, forced them to learn), but this does not reflect well on people, but it proves that elephants have extraordinary abilities. They are capable of drawing, memorizing, playing football, playing darts, and much more. People use this, and for some, it is their main source of income, while elephants lead a miserable/enslaved existence! An elephant can also be taught to kill and inflict pain, and it will do so as a matter of course. I don't think it's worth talking about the training methods and what trainers use in their constant "communication" with their wards... It's a pity that elephants, like all animals, do not have free will.
6) Noise. There have been cases where elephants reacted negatively to the sound of cars and other machinery. Elephants have good hearing; they can hear each other from several kilometers away. People, knowing this, scare away elephants when necessary by firing cannons into the air, which frightens them very much.
