Vaccinations eradicated such a terrible disease as smallpox.

A study of the literature shows that natural smallpox disappeared, rather in spite of vaccinations, and not thanks to them. And vice versa, in those countries where there were no vaccinations at all or a very small percentage of the population was vaccinated (Australia) and even in individual cities that expelled mass vaccinations from their territory (Leicester in England after the epidemic of 1870-72), there were no smallpox epidemics. The WHO campaign to eradicate smallpox in the 1950s and 60s actually showed the complete ineffectiveness of vaccinations. It is known (although it is not widely publicized for obvious reasons) that the last African epidemics were successfully controlled without mass vaccinations at all, practically only by isolating and treating the sick, as has always been done in the case of infectious diseases since time immemorial. Smallpox was declared eradicated when less than 10% of the world's population had been vaccinated. The reasons for its disappearance are absolutely the same as the reasons for the actual disappearance of the plague – the improved sanitary and epidemiological conditions of people's places of residence and the absence of chronic carriers of the disease.

The same situation exists with bubonic plague.
