As many know, I had suggested something very similar to what Vic is proposing a long time ago, probably about a year ago. Besides the mocking comments like "some players are willing to stream for free, why would we need paid streams from you or some other profiteer like you?", I didn't hear anything else. My personal position is that all streams should be made paid; it would be a kind of intellectual property of the player who is streaming. But as long as there are several players of a good level who are willing to stream their games for free, this issue cannot be resolved. Possible exceptions: only rare games of "super-top" players or finals of strong tournaments. Once, someone bought a stream from me for 300 rubles, but I sold it with the right to distribute it to anyone he wanted – in the end, he distributed it for free to several people who wanted it. So, the idea has merit, but for the reasons mentioned above, it is unlikely to be feasible for now.
