By the way, I found another significant oversight – I didn't have any vampires in my army... I reached the island almost at the end, and these creatures demanded an exorbitant sum for joining...

The trick is that the Vampires would join, but only if you had at least one vampire in your army... :) That's why scouting is so important... Without vampires, fighting the Efreet is very problematic. Not because it's difficult, but because you'll suffer many losses.

In general, I learned a lot of interesting things from this "post-mortem analysis." I hope my results will improve next time!
