I've been wanting to ask this for a while. Is the maximum effective morale always 3? Is this 100% accurate? The game manual doesn't clearly state this, the only hint is a table showing morale values from -3 to +3.

Yes, morale always falls within the range of [-3; +3]. If you accumulate more than +3 in bonuses (from structures, skills, and artifacts), the morale will still be +3 in battle. So, exceeding +3 is only useful for neutralizing negative bonuses (having more than two troop types, graveyards, empty crypts, bone dragons on the opponent's side, etc.).
