They were allies until the Rai'lag clan conquered them. Moreover, they helped, albeit indirectly: Tralsai instigated Shadia's rebellion, and it is known who she really is.

Excerpt from Tralsai's biography: "...as soon as he returned home, thoughts of family and revenge began to torment him. Slowly gathering his strength, Tralsai waited for the moment to take revenge... and then Shadia appeared." Tralsai would have raised a rebellion sooner or later even without Shadia, so this is a rather dubious help.
