Socialism is the real future. Across Europe, there is an attempt to build it, and socialists are in power in many countries. They are simply moving towards socialism slowly, through reforms. But the USSR was surrounded by a hostile environment, and the path of reforms was unacceptable because they simply wouldn't have had time to implement them. That's why there were excesses. To deny socialism is simply not to understand its essence.
