Hand of Fate. Part 1: On the March

I understand that this is an old topic, but maybe someone can answer. I reached the mountains late (I delayed with the ship because I didn't see it available), and judging by what's written here, the Barbarian should have a decent army. After the brown player started moving, I intercepted a hero in the mountains with a group of centaurs and attacked without looking. After that, I was told to approach the Necromancer, and according to the scenario, the mission ended. Question: was that the hero I was supposed to fight? I have a feeling of frustration (I prepared, gathered troops, gained experience, and where is the final battle?). Apparently, I wore down these partisans, and they died of starvation while waiting for me.
